Fundraising

The Parent Council run a number of events across the year to raise funds for the School. All events are run by parent volunteers and we’re always on the look out for helpers, all assistance gratefully received whether you’re interested/available in helping with a one off event or joining the Fundraising Group…we’ll gratefully take whatever time/skills you have available! Contact us if you’re interested in getting involved or have a suggestion and/or feedback about events we run.

how the funds we raise are spent

During Parent Council meetings we discuss requests for funds we have received from the Head Teacher and staff of the School. During 2017/18 we donated £6204 to the School which included £2000 for library books, £1500 to subsidise bus travel for trips, £1200 to fund end of term craft projects in each class each term, £900 for a new computer trolley for the Chromebooks, £200 for cooking supplies for P6/nursery transition activities, £180 for P7 yearbooks, £145 for loose parts play and £80 on a number of gifts for staff who were leaving etc.

In 2016/2017 we donated £6065, and in 2015/2016 £6002.

We’ll shortly be updating our website to include links to our annual accounts for your information.

summer & winter fairs

The Summer & Winter Fairs are currently the main fundraising events of the year.

Class reps coordinate stalls at the Summer Fair, and we’re working hard on making this an event for the whole community however all feedback and suggestions are welcome to make this an even greater event in future years.

In 2018, following feedback, we tried something new for the Winter Fair and made this an adult only event. The cost and workload for volunteers associated with running the Winter Fair are much greater than our other events, as such we’ll be giving some thought as to how to change this event to address these issues. Suggestions welcome!

In 2018, as part of our 50 years of Yester celebration, we gave every child in the School a ticket to the disco for free, funding this from the other events we run.

something for everyone

The Parent Council is not predominantly a fundraising body, though this is something we do to support the School, it’s pupil and parents/carers, and we’re keen to ensure that our events are accessible and appealing to all within the School community. If you have a suggestion to help us do this please get in touch
